Got Questions? We Have Answers!
Yes, you will need a license to partake in gator hunting. We will obtain one on your behalf! Licensing cost are included in the package. You must provide a picture of your valid driver’s license or state issued ID (any state). You must send a picture of the front and back of the license/ID of each hunter. We will contact you via email after booking. Pictures can be sent via email, text message, our Facebook page, or fax. We will need this information at least 72 hours in advance of your arrival in order to obtain the license from the Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife & Fisheries.
At Muddy Bayou Bites we require all persons to be at least eighteen (18) years of age to participate in hunts.
We do not allow spectators. All persons out with our guide(s) must be licensed participants.
Frankly, it can be. This is particularly true for hunters or helpers who do not follow the instructions of their guide. Neither our guide, nor anyone who has ever hunted with him, has even been injured while hunting or taking a gator. We make safety a priority and always have the appropriate tools, including firearms, at the ready. For safety, we limit our hunting experiences to a max party of 4 hunters.
We use the hook method for hunting and all hunts are conducted from the bank along the water for safety; we remove the variable of being inside a watercraft. Some of the waters hunted are so shallow that an appropriately sized watercraft is not an option. What do we mean by that? We mean that some gators are so large we would risk capsizing a standard sized pirogue or canoe if we put you- and them- in one.
No. Gator hunting and harvesting (killing) can be fast pasted. We need “all hands on deck" or out of the way. Having spectators can cause confusion when it comes to instructions being given by the guide. Remember, if there’s a gator on the end of a line, a firearm will be used to kill it. For safety, we limit our hunting experiences to a max party of 4 hunters.
No; no one can realistically make that guarantee. These are prehistoric monsters that operate on instinct and various factors (nature at work) influence their behavior. You may not have a single gator on any line, or you may harvest MULTIPLE gators on your hunt. We do not charge any additional fees for harvesting multiple gators, and we do not issue any refunds for failure to harvest. If you do not have the opportunity to take an alligator and would like to try again in the future, we do offer 25% off the next package you purchase.
This is up to you.
I'm all about the experience! You may simply enjoy the thrill of the hunt and harvest and be satisfied with the experience (and plenty of pictures and videos to show your family and friends). If that is the case, we will handle the processing of the gator in accordance with the tagging and turn in requirements of Louisiana law.
Gimme that gator! If you want the gator for meat or trophy, we can help. We will tag the gator as required by law and transport it to a processing facility for you. From there, you will work with the processor directly, picking up your packaged meat when ready. If you would like the hide tanned, they will skin/cut the gator to preserve the hide. We work with local taxidermist for tanning and skull mounts, if you also want the head. Meat processing and taxidermy services and cost are NOT included in the hunt price. You will pay those providers directly for whichever services you may choose.
All bookings are final. In the event that you are unable to make your hunt, we can offer you 75% off any future booking.
